Wahroonga, NSW AUSTRALIA: December 2014-January 2015
Wow it's hot in Sydney but I arrived safe and well. Ginny and her family
have been really busy but finally have some time to spend with me. This
is my first Aussie Christmas. Merry Christmas!
I have been relaxing around the pool and loving the warmth of Sydney. Check me out with my sunnies and board! We are doing Christmas again tomoz!
We had great fun yesterday at the local rugby club having another Christmas celebration.
I had a lovely choice of beers and wines but stuck to a milkshake.
The food here is great too. Ginny had a steak. I couldn't decide between the nachos and Caesar salad.
Found a little bit of Ireland!
It's New Years Eve, only 8 hours left of 2014 here. We are not going into the city like 1.5 million others are. Ginny is concerned I could get lost or damaged, or drowned in beer and champagne. We are going to spend it by the pool and watch the fireworks on TV. They are supposed to be spectacular.
We are going to the zoo on Friday which is right on Sydney Harbour. Photos to come! Ginny will then pack me up and send me on my way on Monday and the global trek will continue.
I helped Ginny double her money on the poker machine yesterday. She only ever puts $10 in and that is only about 2 times a year.
Found a new boat. Perhaps I can take part in the Sydney to Hobart yacht race next year!
9pm fireworks on Sydney Harbour in front of the Opera House and the Harbour Bridge. Can't wait till midnight!!
Earlier this evening the family had a swim. I didn't want to get my fur wet so stayed out of the water and sorted the champagne for after swimming. It was about 77 degrees in the water.
Happy New Year from Sydney! We have just watched the midnight fireworks and we hope that 2015 is full of love, peace and happiness for all. And happy new year from Sydney Harbour.
So here are more photos of the bridge and the amazing fireworks....good night.
We went to the zoo yesterday on Sydney Harbour. Won't mention the name as I asked in writing to meet a keeper last time I was in Sydney and the response was not positive.
These animals have the best view in Sydney!!
At the moment they are hosting dinosaurs as well.
Our first stop was the koala enclosure. It was too difficult to get a photo of me and the koala in focus with Ginny's SLR so we have separate photos.
And, they have some lovely alligators too!
The giraffes are so cute!! I wanted to jump in and play with them.
As I said, the zoo is right on the harbour and the view is spectacular!
The meerkats are so funny! I think I want a digging box now. We were just about to walk past the bird show when we saw 2 rats on the back fence. Now it was obvious these were not just any rats, they were part of the show. I asked 2 of the zoo keepers who said they were so we stayed for the show.
I got to see Australia's biggest flying bird which is a brolga and my 4 little mates came out on cue to give an example of what the native falcons "clean up". They were however very loved performers.
After the bird show we got to meet the four stars, 4 lovely boys who have only been performing for 1 week. Well done lads! Here we are with their trainer Damo.
The Asian elephants here are lovely and very spoilt. Mum Porntip decided to have a bath while we were there.
Ginny and her family are zoo friends and the zoo is very involved with conservation and breeding programs of endangered species.
We also watched the chimpanzees for far too long. This is Sudi with his mum Shiba.
I want to swiiiing from the chandelier .........
Met the goats too.
With the Sydney Opera House in my new top.
Another Vivid Sydney shot.
With my mate Willow sharing yoggies.
