Tuscon, AZ USA: December 2015

Look who I'm visiting for Christmas! My new hosts are Brandi Saxton, publisher and creator of It's A Rat's World magazine, her son, Rory, and her husband, Nathan. Rory is so excited about me being here  Stay tuned to the different things I get to do here with them in Tucson.
I went to the
Any Rat Rescue (AZ) tabling at @bookmansaz with my host Brandi today, along with fellow volunteer Rosie (pictured here). I got to meet her big rattie boy Bangarang, who is a great ambassador for the rescue. People always love to meet the big squish because of his mellow nature. My first outing here in Arizona went great!
Today I got to admire the Christmas tree ornaments at Brandi's house. They even have a Ratatouille one! Tomorrow I get to go an art museum with Nathan. He works there and is going to show me around.
Today I got to go visit the U of A Art Museum where Nathan works. I got to see a Georgia O'Keeffe, a Rothko, and a Jackson Pollock, just to name a few. And there's even a rat sculpture in the gift shop! I feel so cultured now.
I forgot to show the photo of when I met Rory the human boy I'm visiting and one of his rats Sterling. It's strange because this rat has no fur! I should offer him one of my sweaters or at least a scarf in case he's cold.
Today I helped Brandi pack up art and cards to mail out to people and then went to the post office where we stood in a LONG line. I've been told that this is the first real cold day of Winter here in Tucson, so we had to bundle up to stay warm.
Today we went on an adventure up to Mt. Lemmon! When you first start up the mountain you get to see all these tall straight pokey plants called sahuaro cactus. And along the road there were other cacti called prickly pears. They looked soft enough to touch, but I was warned to not get too close or it would hurt!
The farther up Mt. Lemmon we went, the cacti disappeared and there were tall trees and snow! I even built a snow rat. We stopped at Sumner Haven, a little town on the mountain, and went to a place that's famous for their giant cookies. We had hot chocolate and hot apple cider too. It was a fun day!
I left my mark on Mt. Lemmon!
I've been busy at the Saxtons helping with Christmas gifts. I helped make some nice smelling gifts and helped with the wrapping. We made a huge mess at first, but everything is looking great under the tree.
I got to play Settlers of Catan with the Saxtons. Brandi was sad that she lost by one point. Later tonight we're having a PJ party for Christmas Eve!
Last night I got dressed in my jammies for the Saxton's Christmas Eve, annual pajama party with their friends and family. The Saxton's all had Star Wars jammies.
Merry Christmas everyone! I went Brandi's brother house today and there were so many presents to open! And we had an amazing breakfast that Brandi's mom, "Rattie Grandma" made.
Brandi made sure I had my own presents to open. I got a rat-sized December issue of It's a Rat's World magazine (I got to read the The Travelin' Rat monthly column in it) and a foam finger from the University of Arizona. Go Wildcats!
